Tension & Trauma Release Exercises

Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) is a simple yet powerful method to help your body naturally release stress, tension, and trauma. Through a series of gentle movements, TRE activates a natural shaking reflex that helps calm the nervous system, reduce physical and emotional stress, and promote overall well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to try TRE?
No referral is required! You can schedule a session directly. If you're already a patient at our clinic, your provider may recommend TRE as part of your care.
What happens during a TRE session?
TRE sessions involve a series of simple exercises to help activate your body's natural shaking response. A certified TRE practitioner will guide you through the process in a safe, supportive environment.
Is TRE like yoga or meditation?
While TRE shares some similarities with body-based relaxation techniques, it’s different. It’s not a workout or a meditation—it's a unique way to release deep-seated tension from your nervous system.
What if I feel nervous about trying TRE?
That’s completely normal! TRE is a gentle and flexible practice, and you are always in control of the process. Your practitioner will support you every step of the way.
How often should I do TRE?
Some people find relief after just one session, while others benefit from regular practice. Your practitioner can help you determine the best approach for your needs.
Can TRE make my symptoms worse?
TRE is designed to be a safe and natural process, but everyone’s experience is different. If you have any concerns, our practitioners and psychiatric providers are available to guide you.
